Basketball Recap: Tonawanda Warriors vs. St. Mary's Lancers

This season hasn't been kind to the Tonawanda Warriors, who are still winless after their fifth game. They were dealt a 73-27 loss at the hands of St. Mary on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Tonawanda has scored all season.

St. Mary's was led to victory by Israel Wilson and Will Szablewski. Wilson scored 16 points along with two steals, while Szablewski scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Szablewski is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Taydan Williams was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.

Tonawanda dropped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for St. Mary's, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tonawanda will take on the Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Mary's, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Huskies at 1:30 p.m. on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New York (Olean is ranked 483rd, while the Lancers are ranked 463rd).
