State's top-ranked team on the verge of closing out unbeaten regular season.

No. 1 Cherry Creek built a 17-0 first-quarter lead on its way to a 44-21 win against No.7 Grandview. The Bruins finished the regular season 9-0 and are a candidate for the state's top seed when the playoff rankings are released by the Colorado High School Activities Association next week.
Also, No. 2 Valor Christian routed No. 22 Highlands Ranch 34-7, while No. 3 Ralston Valley blanked Arvada-city rival No. 8 Pomona 17-0.
A couple of upsets happened in the Top 25 as No. 21 Cherokee Trail beat No. 12 Eaglecrest 36-32 and unranked Ponderosa knocked off #13 Montrose 7-0.
