Basketball Recap: Natchez Comes Up Short

Natchez extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-56 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lawrence County Cougars. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

As for Lawrence County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 64.3 points this season.

Lawrence County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tae Rhodes, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards. Rhodes is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 57% in the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Logan Bass, who posted 18 points.

Coming up, Natchez will be playing at home against Vicksburg at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lawrence County, they will venture away from home to face off against Mendenhall at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
