Softball Game Preview: Mark Morris Monarchs vs. R.A. Long Lumberjacks

The Mark Morris Monarchs will head out on the road to face off against the R.A. Long Lumberjacks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Mark Morris is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Friday, Mark Morris got the win against Washougal by a conclusive 18-4. The Monarchs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by seven runs or more this season.

Megan Fugleberg was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Alexys Millard was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one RBI.

Mark Morris always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washougal only posted an OBP of .318.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for R.A. Long's offense. They came up short against Woodland on Friday, falling 15-0. The Lumberjacks have struggled against the Beavers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

R.A. Long's loss dropped their record down to 6-11-1. As for Mark Morris, they pushed their record up to 18-0 with the win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Mark Morris took their victory against R.A. Long in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Monarchs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
