            Softball Preview: St. Charles East Fighting Saints vs. Kaneland Knights        
        
		
        
        
            The St. Charles East Fighting Saints will face off against the Kaneland Knights at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Kaneland took a loss in their last  game and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Charles East, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, St. Charles East got the win against Lemont  by a conclusive  7-1. Considering the Fighting Saints have won five contests by more than five  runs this season, Saturday's  blowout was nothing new.

 Makayla Van Dinther made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out nine batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned run off   three  hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 3-for-4 with one  RBI. Those  three  hits gave  her a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Addison Wolf, who  went 2-for-4 with one  stolen base and two  RBI.
Meanwhile,  after soaring to 17  runs the game before, Kaneland was a bit more limited  in their  matchup  on Monday. They fell  5-2 to Ottawa.
 Kaneland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Ansley Ruh, who  went 1-for-2 with one  triple.
 St. Charles East has  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Kaneland, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
 St. Charles East was able to grind out a solid  victory over Kaneland in their previous meeting  back in April of 2024, winning  10-5. Do  the Fighting Saints have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
