Baseball Recap: Preston Comes Up Short

Preston extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 5-9 in the process. They took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Century Diamondbacks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 8-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Conner Thomson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Preston is 4-1 when Thomson posts two or more runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Tate Bassett was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

As for Century, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-15 record. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

On Century's side, Daeton Poulsen was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four hits gave Poulsen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Camdyn Renyolds, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

While Preston had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
