Football Recap: Vanessa Long Leads Citrus Valley's Defense on Saturday

The Citrus Valley Blackhawks came up short against the Norco Cougars on Saturday and fell 19-6. While losing is never fun, the Blackhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while the Cougars are ranked 136th).

Citrus Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Vanessa Long. She has been hot, having posted at least one interception the last six times she's played.

Citrus Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Norco, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4.

Citrus Valley has already played their next game, a 7-6 victory against Poly on the 13th. As for Norco, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-6 win against Roosevelt on the 15th.
