Basketball Recap: Scott County Takes a Loss

Scott County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Great Crossing 117-73. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 87-43 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

It was another big night for Malachi Moreno, who dropped a double-double with 40 points and 13 boards for Great Crossing. What's more, Moreno also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. LJ Holman was another key player, as he made all 8 shots he took to post 17 points and three steals.

Scott County's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Great Crossing, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 22-4.

Scott County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 73-48 defeat against Bryan Station on the 11th. As for Great Crossing, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-43 win against George Rogers Clark on the 12th.
