Football Recap: Fort Myers Green Wave vs. Riverdale Raiders
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Fort Myers can now relate to. They took an 18-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Riverdale Raiders. The Green Wave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played on November 7th.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Lovensky Blanchard and Cole Hayes. Blanchard rushed for 200 yards while picking up 11.8 yards per carry while Hayes rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards Blanchard has posted since back in August.
Fort Myers' defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Riverdale, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.
Fort Myers does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riverdale, they will challenge Manatee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Manatee will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Riverdale surely won't give up without a fight.
