Baseball Game Preview: Pendleton County Wildcat vs. Elkins Tigers

The Pendleton County Wildcat will take on the Elkins Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Pendleton County and three for Elkins.

Pendleton County couldn't beat Spring Mills on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Wildcat came up short against the Cardinals, falling 17-7.

Cooper Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was James Vincell, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Elkins took on Grafton on Thursday. The Tigers lost 13-3 to the Bearcats.

Braden Cooper made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Elkins' loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Pendleton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Pendleton County's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's match. The Wildcat have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Elkins, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Pendleton County continue to outrun the ball?
