The San Luis Obispo Classical Academy Grizzlies are taking a road trip to challenge the Shandon Outlaws at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. San Luis Obispo Classical Academy will be strutting in after a win while Shandon will be coming in after a defeat.
San Luis Obispo Classical Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Laton on Wednesday. The Grizzlies not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12, 2024 (when they won 15-4).
Luke Keefe was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Rhett Soto was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Spelbring, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
San Luis Obispo Classical Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.
Meanwhile, Shandon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Coastal Christian, falling 13-2.
Eric Ruelas was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.
Shandon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for San Luis Obispo Classical Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9-1.
Shandon's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. San Luis Obispo Classical Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Shandon, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will San Luis Obispo Classical Academy keep running through batters, or will the Outlaws buck the trend?
San Luis Obispo Classical Academy skirted past Shandon 6-5 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
