Softball Preview: Lewisville Farmers vs. Hebron Hawks
The Lewisville Farmers will venture away from home to face off against the Hebron Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewisville is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Lewisville and Coppell meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. Lewisville came up short against Coppell, falling 14-3.
Meanwhile, Hebron got themselves on the board against Little Elm on Thursday, but Little Elm never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Lobos as they made off with a 7-0 win. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Lobos recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The result came thanks to Kate Buesing's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Haylee Epps, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. EK Hagedorn also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Hebron pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lewisville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12-1.
