Baseball Game Preview: Desert Mountain Wolves vs. O'Connor Eagles

The Desert Mountain Wolves will face off against the O'Connor Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Desert Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Desert Mountain barely beat Mountain Pointe the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Desert Mountain's pitchers stepped up to hand Mountain Pointe a 15-0 shutout on Wednesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Wolves, who have now won three games in a row.

Roman Carrington was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last three contests. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Zach Durben was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Quentin Starbuck was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for O'Connor, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over Ponderosa on Wednesday.

Cody Stoller looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ayden McGinnis, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

O'Connor has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. Desert Mountain pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
