Softball Recap: Knappa Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Knappa ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Warrenton Warriors 7-6. For the Loggers, this counts as revenge for the 8-4 win the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

Georgia Sutton spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Taylor Pass and Kiya Roe did most of the damage at the plate: Pass went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Roe scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Mylie Lempea also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Knappa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.

Knappa's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Warrenton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Knappa will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Rainier at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Warrenton, they will take on Corbett at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
