Baseball Recap: Pine Forest Comes Up Short

Pine Forest had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 0-12 to make it 11. They came up short against the Hoke County Bucks, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bucks this season, with their most recent defeat being a 13-10 loss on Tuesday.

Oconee Chadwick was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. David Hicks also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Hoke County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games.

On Hoke County's side, the team relied heavily on Gabriel Allen, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Allen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was James Tatum, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Coming up, Pine Forest will take on Village Christian Academy in a tournament on Saturday. The Trojans will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for Hoke County, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Richmond Senior at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th.
