Basketball Recap: Asotin Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Asotin won the last time they faced Pomeroy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Asotin Panthers came out on top against the Pomeroy Pirates by a score of 51-39. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Pirates are ranked 235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jett Slusser and Braxton McKeirnan certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Slusser posted 16 points and eight rebounds, while McKeirnan dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave McKeirnan a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyzer Herres, who put up eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.
