Soccer Game Preview: Cypress vs. El Modena

The Cypress Centurions will face off against the El Modena Vanguards at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cypress' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Cypress managed to keep up with Pacifica until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Cypress lost 3-0 to Pacifica. While losing is never fun, the Centurions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 794th, while the Mariners are ranked 278th).

Meanwhile, El Modena had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They never let the Centurions onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. That's two games straight that the Vanguards have won by just one goal.

Cypress' loss dropped their record down to 2-7-1. As for El Modena, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.

Cypress skirted past El Modena 2-1 in their previous matchup back in January of 2017. Does Cypress have another victory up their sleeve, or will El Modena turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
