Baseball Game Preview: Fairborn Skyhawks vs. Tippecanoe Red Devils

For the second straight game, Fairborn will face off against Tippecanoe. The Skyhawks will head out to square off against the Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Fairborn has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fairborn fell victim to Tippecanoe and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 11-0 to the Red Devils. The game marked the first time this season in which the Skyhawks were not able to get on the board.

For Tippecanoe's part, Cayden McKinney was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. McKinney has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

McKinney wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carson Jackson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Jackson a new career-high. Another was Preston Zumwalt, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory keeps Tippecanoe at an undefeated 11-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average this season. As for Fairborn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5-1.
