Basketball Game Preview: Alton Redbirds vs. Quincy Blue Devils

The Alton Redbirds will square off against the Quincy Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Alton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Quincy likes a good challenge.

Alton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Granite City 77-17. The victory continues a trend for the Redbirds in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won nine in a row.

Meanwhile, Quincy came tearing into Monday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 42-36 W against the Tigers.

Quincy's win came from a few key players Alton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Khloe Nicholson, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 13 rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameran Byquist, who went 6-for-9 on her way to 13 points and five assists.

Alton's win was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 29-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 38.4 points. As for Quincy, their victory bumped their record up to 20-10.

Everything came up roses for Alton against Quincy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, as the team secured a 58-31 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Quincy's Taylor Fohey, who went 8-for-18 to rack up 20 points and seven rebounds.
