Baseball Recap: Regis Jesuit Comes Up Short

If Regis Jesuit was riding high fresh off their 11-0 takedown of Valor Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Raiders fell 8-5 to the Mullen Mustangs on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 9-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Regis Jesuit got a good showing from Ryan Neumann, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Nick Wiley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. He also scored a run, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chase Massey, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Regis Jesuit's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Mullen, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Regis Jesuit will take on Wesleyan Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mullen, they will square off against Lewis-Palmer at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rangers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
