Monessen hasn't had much luck against Eden Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Greyhounds are taking a road trip to challenge Eden Christian Academy at 4:15 p.m. Monessen has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Friday just wasn't the day for Monessen's offense. They came up short against Washington on Friday, falling 15-0.
Monessen saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jakob Dell, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Dell has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Eden Christian Academy had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Bucs.
Levi DeFazio was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. DeFazio was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Noah Emswiler and Jackson Bremmer did most of the damage at the plate: Emswiler went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Bremmer went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Levi Parrott, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Eden Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.
Eden Christian Academy's record is now 8-3. As for Monessen, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.
Monessen suffered a grim 18-1 defeat to Eden Christian Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Greyhounds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
