Softball Game Preview: Marathon Olympians vs. Afton Knights

The Marathon Olympians will head out to take on the Afton Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Marathon has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Marathon's last matchup with Moravia could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Wednesday. The Olympians came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 12-2. The game marked the Olympians' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Afton had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Team.

Afton's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Marathon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
