Softball Game Preview: Saline Hornets vs. Dexter Dreadnaughts

The Saline Hornets will take on the Dexter Dreadnaughts on Saturday. Saline will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Saline made easy work of St. Mary's Prep and carried off a 9-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Zosia Mazur looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sydney Hastings, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Meanwhile, Dexter came up short against Riverview on Thursday and fell 6-3.

Saline's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-3-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Dexter, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1.

Everything went Saline's way against Dexter in their previous matchup back in April, as Saline made off with a 16-0 win. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Dreadnaughts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
