Softball Recap: Norwood Triumphs

Norwood posted their closest win since April 14th on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the North Attleborough Rocketeers 8-7. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 5-0 victory the Rocketeers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in June of 2023.

The team relied heavily on Ava Amato, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Colleen Denehy, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Norwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in seven consecutive matchups.

Norwood is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for North Attleborough, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Norwood will take on Westwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for North Attleborough, they will face off against Oliver Ames at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
