Baseball Recap: Wayne Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Wayne had lost eight games straight , but after bumping their record up to 4-14 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Tug Valley Panthers 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pioneers have posted against the Panthers since April 1, 2022.

The team relied heavily on Jacob Thompson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Prater, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

As for Tug Valley, they now have a losing record of 9-10. They have struggled against Wayne recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

On Tug Valley's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Fitzpatrick, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne will head out to face off against Hoover at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tug Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against East Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
