Basketball Recap: Southeast Halifax Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Southeast Halifax came into Saturday's matchup having lost 15 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They claimed a resounding 52-12 victory over the KIPP P Pride. With the Trojans ahead 36-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Southeast Halifax got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Keshiya Evans out in front who posted 12 points. Those 12 points gave Evans a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ja'Niyla Pierce, who earned eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Southeast Halifax's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-15. As for KIPP P, they are on a 31-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Southeast Halifax and KIPP P could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Southeast Halifax will square off against North Edgecombe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 346 places (574 vs. 228). Southeast Halifax is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. Meanwhile, KIPP P (ranked 618th) will meet Wilson Prep (ranked 92nd) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
