Softball Recap: Central Wildcats vs. Colbert Heights Wildcats

Central's hitters rose to the challenge against a Wildcats pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.3 points allowed on Saturday. Everything went the Central Wildcats' way against the Colbert Heights Wildcats as the Central Wildcats made off with a 13-6 victory. The win was just what Central needed coming off of a 14-2 loss in their prior game.

Chloe May made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (she also didn't allow any walks). May has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. May was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Mycah Beth Ray was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Peyton Benson was another key contributor, going 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Central and bumps their season record up to 15-14. As for Colbert Heights, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-2-1.

Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 16-1 win vs. Cherokee on the 6th. Colbert Heights has also already played their next contest, a 13-2 loss against Deshler on the 6th.
