Recap: Valley View Tigers vs. Flour Bluff Hornets
The Valley View Tigers fell victim to the Flour Bluff Hornets''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Hornets at home and fell 50-0. While losing is never fun, Valley View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1078th, while Flour Bluff is ranked 460th).
Flour Bluff's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Paluseo, who threw for 186 yards and four touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes. Paluseo is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tylor Simpson, who rushed for 142 yards on only nine carries.
Valley View's defeat was their fourth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.8 points per game. As for Flour Bluff, the victory was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley View will face off against Gregory-Portland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Gregory-Portland's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matches. As for Flour Bluff, they will head out on the road to face off against Porter at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Porter comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
