Preview: Mitchell Tigers vs. Hemingford Bobcats

Mitchell is 10-0 against Hemingford since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Mitchell Tigers will be staying on the road to face off against the Hemingford Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on December 14th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Saturday, Mitchell was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 36-35 to Pine Bluffs. While losing is never fun, Mitchell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 139th in Nebraska, while Pine Bluffs is ranked 11th in Wyoming).

Despite the loss, Mitchell had strong showings from Addy Bowlin, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals, and Kaitlyn Keener, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The match was Bowlin's fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Hemingford, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They fell 45-34 to Hay Springs on Tuesday. The game was a 17-17 toss-up at halftime, but Hemingford was outscored by Hay Springs in the second.

Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Hemingford, they bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything went Mitchell's way against Hemingford when the teams last played back in February as Mitchell made off with a 44-22 win. Will Mitchell repeat their success, or does Hemingford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
