Basketball Game Preview: South Davidson Wildcats vs. Lexington Yellowjackets

South Davidson is 0-7 against Lexington since December of 2019 but things could change on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the South Davidson Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Lexington Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m.

South Davidson is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They took a 47-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Moore.

Meanwhile, Lexington put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Eastern Randolph to the tune of 69-38. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Wildcats are ranked 360th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Davidson better focus on containing Makayla Bobo and Lily Ervin as the pair were huge in Lexington's win. Bobo dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten steals, while Ervin almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards. Those 24 points gave Ervin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliyah Johnson, who posted seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Lexington's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for South Davidson, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

South Davidson was dealt a bruising 62-31 defeat at the hands of Lexington in their previous meeting back in January. Can South Davidson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
