Baseball Recap: Bourne Comes Up Short

Bourne had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 3-14 to make it four. They lost 15-4 to the Seekonk Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 back in April.

Luca Finton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Bourne's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 0-13 when he doesn't). Bryce Young also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Seekonk, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-6. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Seekonk's side, Javi Borges was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cole Arruda, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bourne is set to challenge their familiar foe Old Rochester Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Seekonk will take on rival Dighton-Rehoboth Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
