Baseball Recap: Cascade Takes a Loss

Cascade was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Newport Cubs. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 20-6 to the Cubs when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Slade Hudson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cascade is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Hans Kamm made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Cascade's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Newport, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

While Cascade had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
