Softball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Austin's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

Austin's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Hamilton Aggies. The Black Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.

Grace Lamb was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. Lamb was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Arden Breedlove was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Zyan Moore was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Austin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matchups.

Austin has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 33-14-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hamilton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-20.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Austin will welcome Lawrence County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Black Bears surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hamilton, they will host Brooks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Aggies are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
