Softball Recap: Manchester Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Manchester dropped their record down to 8-6 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the Rochester Zebras, falling 10-0. Surprisingly, this marked the Squires' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

As for Rochester, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

For Rochester's part, Bria Rensberger made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. Those 18 strikeouts gave Rensberger a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Aubrey Wilson was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Brailyn Hunter was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manchester will host North Miami at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Squires' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season. As for Rochester, they will take on Knox at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
