Baseball Game Preview: Ridley Raiders vs. Garnet Valley Jaguars

The Ridley Raiders will square off against the Garnet Valley Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The last four games Ridley has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Ridley fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Interboro on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Buccaneers by a score of 6-5.

Ridley got a good showing from Sean Roseberry, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave Roseberry a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Brendan Soper made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was John Teehan, who went 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, while Garnet Valley put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Conestoga. Garnet Valley blew past Conestoga 7-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Jaguars have posted against the Pioneers since April 12, 2022.

Garnet Valley's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Ridley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Ridley came out on top in a nail-biter against Garnet Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will Ridley repeat their success, or does Garnet Valley has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
