Volleyball Recap: Riverside-Brookfield Starts Season with Win at Home

Riverside-Brookfield gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs by a score of 2-0. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 2-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Riverside-Brookfield never let Berwyn/Cicero Morton on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-22.

Jack Schejbal paced Riverside-Brookfield's offense, picking up six kills. Schejbal got some help from Gianfranco Crancich and his 19 assists. Cole Rubio controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Berwyn/Cicero Morton's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Riverside-Brookfield will take on O'Fallon in a tournament on Friday. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, they will challenge Reavis at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
