Basketball Game Preview: Union City Soaring Eagles vs. St. Peter's Prep Marauders

Union City hasn't had much luck against St. Peter's Prep recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Union City Soaring Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the St. Peter's Prep Marauders at 7:00 p.m.

Last Saturday, Union City didn't have quite enough to beat Neptune and fell 41-39. The match marked the Soaring Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, St. Peter's Prep faced Gill St. Bernard's in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Sunday. St. Peter's Prep rang in the new year with a 45-38 win over Gill St. Bernard's. The victory was familiar territory for the Marauders who have now won six contests in a row.

St. Peter's Prep pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Union City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Union City was dealt a bruising 59-25 defeat at the hands of St. Peter's Prep in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Union City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
