Basketball Recap: Marion County Takes a Loss

Marion County and Greenville squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Marion County had to settle for second. They took a 70-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greenville Patriots. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greenville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daliyah Ellison, who posted 25 points in addition to seven assists and three steals. Ellison has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Ca'Tavia Bennett was another key player, putting up 21 points along with eight rebounds and six steals.

Marion County's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Greenville, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Marion County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Greenville, they will square off against Screven County on Friday. Screven County will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Greenville surely won't give up without a fight.
