Baseball Game Preview: Havelock Rams vs. J.H. Rose Rampants

Havelock hasn't had much luck against J.H. Rose recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Rampants at 6:30 p.m. Havelock will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Havelock made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Croatan, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Rams never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Monday. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Rams this season.

Meanwhile, J.H. Rose came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rampants have posted since February 25th.

Parker Simo looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, J.H. Rose saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Watson, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Havelock's record is now 4-8. As for J.H. Rose, their record now sits at 12-2.

Havelock might still be hurting after the 13-1 loss they got from J.H. Rose when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
