Baseball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Port Aransas

Port Aransas extended their winning streak to eight on Monday, bumping their season record up to 11-4 in the process. They put the hurt on the Kenedy Lions with a sharp 9-3 victory. Considering the Marlins have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

As for Kenedy, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since March 7th.

For Kenedy's part, Ryder Hartsfield was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off two hits. Hartsfield has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, David Salas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Daniel Pena, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Port Aransas has already played their next contest, a 7-5 loss against Refugio on the 17th. As for Kenedy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-4 win against Yorktown on the 17th.
