Baseball Game Preview: Waterloo Tigers vs. Geneva Panthers

The Waterloo Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Geneva Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Waterloo will be strutting in after a victory while Geneva will be coming in after a defeat.

Waterloo is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Penn Yan Academy 9-1 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Tigers have posted against the Mustangs since May 20, 2019.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Geneva nor East Rochester made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Panthers fell just short of the Bombers by a score of 2-1. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Waterloo has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Geneva, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Waterloo came out on top in a nail-biter against Geneva in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
