Softball Recap: Freeman Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Freeman proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 13) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Liberty Lancers 5-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Scotties, who have now won four games in a row.

Kaylee Ripke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rilyn Ripke was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sadie Stenlund, who earned two runs and one stolen base.

Freeman's record is now 16-3. As for Liberty, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-2.

Freeman and Liberty should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. The Scotties will face off against Asotin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (33 vs. 208). Meanwhile, Liberty (ranked 32nd) will meet Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna (ranked 197th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
