Flag Football Game Preview: Tesoro Titans vs. Capistrano Valley Cougars

Tesoro is a perfect 5-0 against Capistrano Valley since September of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Titans will be playing at home against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Tesoro's defense has only allowed 11.3 points per game this season, so Capistrano Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, Tesoro made easy work of Dana Hills and carried off a 27-7 victory. Considering the Titans have won nine contests by more than 19 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tesoro's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chloe Gillis, who threw for 248 yards and three TDs. What's more, Gillis racked up 21 rushing yards, the most she's had since back in August. Tesoro's leading receiver Jenna Tuttle was Gillis' top target yet again, picking up 112 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Tesoro's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Kayla Siebold. She is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as she's now posted at least one in each of the last ten games she's played.

Meanwhile, Capistrano Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Tesoro and fell 38-0. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 575th, while the Titans are ranked 87th).

The victory made it two in a row for Tesoro and bumps their season record up to 14-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 points in those games. As for Capistrano Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.

Everything came up roses for Tesoro against Capistrano Valley when the teams last played on Monday, as the team secured a 38-0 victory. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
