Mead had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Niwot Cougars 66-24. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-13.

Mead's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elena Gomez, who posted eight points along with seven boards and six assists. Those six assists gave Gomez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Darby Haley, who went 5 for 10 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Gomez wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Mead was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Niwot only posted three assists.

Despite the defeat, Niwot had strong showings from Hadie Adams, who scored six points and three steals, and Jiselle Sales, who earned three points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Sales has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Mead's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points per game. As for Niwot, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Mead has already played their next contest, a 64-34 victory against Horizon on the 28th. As for Niwot, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 75-15 loss against Broomfield on the 28th.
