Basketball Recap: Rodriguez Piles Up the Points Against Pioneer

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Rodriguez's strategy against Pioneer on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Rodriguez Mustangs blew the Pioneer Patriots out of the water with a 90-63 final score. The Mustangs pushed the score to 73-53 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots had little chance of recovering from.

Rodriguez's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Adimora, who went 8 of 13 en route to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Adimora has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. Jamar Missouri was another key player, going 5 for 7 on his way to 11 points along with seven boards and six assists.

Rodriguez was working as a unit and finished the game with 32 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Despite the loss, Pioneer had strong showings from Bodie Britton, who went 8 of 12 en route to 21 points, and Melvir Pooni, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 18 points. Those 21 points gave Britton a new career-high.

The win was the fifth in a row for Rodriguez, bringing their record for this year to 13-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.2 points per game. As for Pioneer, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-12.

Rodriguez has already played their next matchup, an 80-57 victory against Vacaville on the 15th. Pioneer has also already played their next game (against River City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
