After a string of six wins dating back to last season, Maryvale Prep's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against the Mayer Wildcats, falling 35-10. The matchup marked the Matador's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Maryvale Prep still got an impressive performance from Amaya Myers, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, Myers is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Mariah Mansfield, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Maryvale Prep fell to 5-1. As for Mayer, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
