League recap: Mars extends winning streak with victory over Elizabeth Forward

WPIAL AAA Northeastern recap November 5, 2013

Mars extended the longest winning streak in WPIAL AAA Northeastern this week by beating Elizabeth Forward, 38-21. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.

Indiana scaled the state rankings by moving to 138 from 263 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Little Indians climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Ringgold 28-14.

Franklin Regional's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Charan Singh threw for 84 and 2 touchdowns and Colin Jonov had 72 yards receiving. On the ground Singh contributed 127 yards.

The Panthers' dynamic duo of Singh and Jonov proved tough for Montour to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Knoch's Daniel Farinelli and James Larrimer have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Farinelli has thrown for 1,175 yards this season, while Larrimer has 24 catches for 451 yards. Mars' Joshua Schultheis leads the league in rushing yards with 1,561.

Derry fell to Southmoreland 50-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Austin Hess caught 2 passes for 78 yards in the defeat.
