Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Winter Springs

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Winter Springs walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Gainesville Hurricanes on Thursday. Considering the Bears have won 15 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Tiffany Seemann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Alondra Maldonado was a standout: she fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abigail Hooper, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Winter Springs lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gainesville didn't launched any home runs.

The win (which was Winter Springs' sixth in a row) raised their record to 22-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Gainesville, they moved to 17-8 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Winter Springs nor the Hurricanes have any future games scheduled.
