Softball Recap: Horace Takes Down Ranked Velva/Drake/Anamoose

Horace faced Velva/Drake/Anamoose in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Horace had just enough and edged out Velva/Drake/Anamoose 5-4. The win was familiar territory for Horace, who have now won three matches in a row.

The team relied heavily on Tristyn Struck, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Struck is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emry Roark, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Horace's record now sits at 8-3. As for Velva/Drake/Anamoose, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horace will take on Devils Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Velva/Drake/Anamoose, they will challenge Bottineau at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
