Football Recap: Austin-East Takes a Loss

Austin-East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Meigs County Tigers, falling 47-6. While losing is never fun, the Roadrunners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Tigers are ranked 99th).

Nymire Jackson threw for 82 yards on 15 of 27 attempts. Travis Claiborne was his top target, picking up 37 receiving yards.

Austin-East's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Meigs County, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Austin-East is set to face off against their familiar foe McMinn Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Meigs County will square off against rival Roane County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Tigers 11.1, the Yellowjackets 13.7) so any points scored will be well earned.
